The Costa de la Luz region lies across the border in Spain, but since it is only a short drive from Faro airport, we include Costa de la Luz golf holidays in our Algarve programme. Indeed thanks to the Via do Infante motorway it is quicker to drive from Faro to Isla Canela than to some of the Algarve resorts. This region, known as 'the Andalucian Algarve', is renowned for its historical connection with Christopher Columbus, for its sunny beaches and for its fruit growing - mainly strawberries, oranges, melons, figs and mangoes. Our holiday programme here features the excellent resorts and golf courses of Isla Canela and Islantilla in Spain, as well as the courses of Benamor, Castro Marim, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima, just across the border in the Algarve. Both resorts are quiet and relaxing with most of the nightlife taking place in the hotels, although the nearby town of Ayamonte has a number of bars and fine restaurants
